OBJECTIVES

For the realization of the goal of the present project it is necessary to solve the following objectives:
1. To assess the dependance of the abundance of Sunwatcher Lizard on the following main factors of habitats: steepness and exposition of microslopes, capacity and mechanical composition of the soil, projective covering of the soil with vegetation as well as household and construction waste, distance to irrigated areas, highways and areas of working with heavy technics and, finally, the quantity of sympartic species: Shtraukh's racerunner (Eremias strauchi) and Pleskei's racerunner (Eremias pleskei). The assessment will include three stages:
1.1) Field measurement of the abundance of Persian Sunwatcher Lizard and sympatric species, as well as measurement of the size of factors of corresponding habitats;
1.2) Laboratory measurements of the factors, the measurement of which is complicated in the field (mechanical composition of the soil).
1.3) Statistical processing of the findings and analysis of the dependance of abundance of Sunwatcher Lizard on the size of influencing factors of habitats.
2. For the visualization of the results of the research there will be built a computer DB in GIS and a digital map demonstrating habitats of different qualities within Goravan Sands.
3. For providing availability of the research results they will be published in the form of scientific articles and reports at conferences as well as placed in this site.
